1. Show respect and kindness to all players, both in and out of character (OOC). Harassment, hate speech, or discrimination will not be tolerated. Avoid using public writing spaces to criticize or target others as a way to bypass in-character consequences.

2. Ensure all content aligns with the sim's rating.

3. All major story developments, character injuries, or lasting consequences require mutual consent between the players involved. However, survival is never guaranteed—if there has been prior roleplay between the parties and an in-character justification for death, it may occur.

4. Avoid controlling other players’ characters or making your own invincible, omniscient, or overpowered.

5. Do not use OOC knowledge to influence IC actions. Keep player knowledge separate from character knowledge.

6. Before participating, please submit an application on Discord. Once approved, always wear the whitelist group tag while on sim. Be sure to stay true to your character’s backstory and abilities.

7.  Follow the sim’s lore, setting, and supernatural rules. Violations of lore consistency will result in IC consequences or admin review.

8. You may write NPC co-workers as long as they are portrayed respectfully—do not degrade, humiliate, or depict them as incompetent without the permission of the business owner or story team. NPC featured roles or business owners cannot be written without explicit permission from a Story Lead.

9. Innovation in character development is encouraged but must align with the sim's themes (e.g., no futuristic weapons, medicine or inventions).

10. Personal disputes should remain OOC. Avoid bringing personal conflicts into IC interactions.

11. Maintain realistic actions and consequences based on the setting and your character’s abilities.

12. For out-of-character communication, please use the designated OOC channels or private IMs. Excessive OOC chatter in IC areas is discouraged. If you're visiting the sim, remember to wear an OOC tag before entering town.

13. Follow posting orders in group scenes unless otherwise agreed upon by all participants.

14. Do not rewrite past events without agreement from all involved parties. Misunderstandings can often be resolved IC.

15. Any disruptive actions such as spamming, crashing sims, or abusing game mechanics will result in an immediate ban.

16. Use the designated combat system (provided HuD) and follow sim rules regarding fights. Random attacks without IC justification are not allowed

17. If you’re inactive for long periods, move to designated OOC areas or log off.

18. Follow land and prim-use guidelines. Avoid unnecessary clutter or oversized prims that disrupt the sim’s aesthetic or performance.

19. Use avatars that fit the sim’s setting and lore. Out-of-theme avatars (e.g., robots) are prohibited unless approved by admins.

20.  No child avatars.

21. Wealthy characters, business owners, or those from wealthy or business-owning families outside of featured roles must include a backstory with their character sheet.

22. The following are not permitted in Shadewood: royalty, high-ranking political, military, or religious officials, races not included in the lore, legendary heroes, heiresses, millionaires, warlords, or interdimensional travelers.

23. Each account is allowed to have two characters at any given time. These characters may interact and be involved in the same storylines, as long as they do not share information between them. Each character must acquire information through their own means within the narrative.

24. All characters, regardless of reroll, must go through whitelist approval.

25. Minor infractions may result in warnings.

26. Repeated or severe violations may result in temporary bans or character suspension.

27. Griefing, harassment, or any egregious violations can lead to permanent bans without warning.
