Welcome to Shadewood Hollow!
We’re excited to have you join our whitelist-only roleplay sim. Here’s everything you need to dive into our immersive world.
Your Story Begins
For time-traveling characters, their journey begins on November 28, 2024, when they are transported back to 1890. All time travelers arrive on the same day, though you’re free to create a backstory where your character starts in another part of the world on that date or has already been living in 1890.
Time in Shadewood Hollow progresses in real time, with a 1:1 ratio to the real world. For instance, if you join in January 2025, a time-traveling character would have been in 1890 for about a month and a few days.
Choose your adventure or pick one of our Featured Roles. Build your character by selecting a race (unless dictated by a Featured Role) and choosing a starting racial specialization ability as well as a human specialization ability your supernatural is proficient in. Humans may choose two human specialization abilities at the start of their character.
Keep in mind that each account may only have one Featured Role and/or a maximum of two characters to ensure balance and fair opportunities for everyone to explore Shadewood Hollow. Choose wisely and dive into the story you want to tell!

Our HUD System
Enhance gameplay with our custom HUD:
Racial Button (Heart Icon)
-
How It Works: Click the heart icon and choose your race from the list provided. Once selected, your chosen race will automatically apply a modifier to your attack rolls in combat. This modifier reflects the strengths associated with your race.
Combat Button (Fists Icon)
-
How It Works: Click the fists icon and select the opponent you wish to engage in combat. Once chosen, attack rolls will be made against them. Your racial modifier will be applied automatically to your attack rolls.
-
Combat System:
-
This is a "3 Strikes and You're Out" system.
-
Each participant can take up to 3 hits before being defeated.
-
If you take 3 hits, you are considered defeated and must yield or exit the encounter.
-
-
Tip: Choose your battles wisely and keep track of your strikes during combat.
Dice Button (D20 Icon)
-
How It Works: Click the dice icon to roll a D20. This is used for the following purposes:
-
Initiative rolls at the start of a combat scene.
-
Life-saving rolls during critical moments in gameplay.
-
General-purpose rolls outside of combat, such as skill checks, chance rolls, or random outcomes.
-
Level-Up Button (Shield Icon)
-
How It Works: Ready to level up? Start by submitting a storyteller ticket on Discord.
-
Submit logs and journals through a ticket to prove your character’s progress in mastering a new ability. Once an admin reviews and verifies your efforts, they’ll approve your level-up.
-
Supernaturals can reach a maximum of Level 4, hybrids cap at Level 3, and humans top out at Level 2.
-
Once a storyteller gives you the green light, update your character sheet to reflect your new ability, then click the “level” option on your HUD, select your approved level, and let the modifier automatically enhance your attack rolls.
-
You can only request a level-up once every 30 days, so make it count.
-
-
Tip: Keep a detailed journal or logs of your character’s journey and ability usage. It’s your proof of progress and the key to unlocking more power.
NPC Combat (Animals and NPCs)
-
How It Works: Click on the NPC or animal you wish to engage in combat. The NPC’s, and your attack rolls are automatic and do not include modifiers.
-
Combat System:
-
The 3 Strikes and You’re Out system applies here as well.
-
If you land 3 hits on the NPC, they will be considered defeated and disappear from the scene.
-
Each NPC or animal has a respawn timer. Rare creatures have longer reset times than common ones.
-
Wallet (Visual Currency System)
-
How It Works:
-
Players manage their own wallets by depositing or withdrawing amounts.
-
The "wallet" is a visual representation only and is meant to enhance immersion.
-
To update your wallet, use the deposit or withdraw function to adjust your balance as needed.
-
Important Note: If you reset your HUD, your wallet amount will also be reset. Be sure to keep track of your balance separately.
-
-
Starting Currency:
-
Players will be informed via their character sheets how much starting currency they receive.
-
Update your wallet to reflect this starting amount.
-
-
Tip: Use the wallet to immerse yourself in the financial aspect of roleplay, but it’s not a requirement for gameplay.
Buying and Selling
-
Function: Buy or sell items using on-sim registers or floating text items.
-
How It Works:
-
Click the register or item with floating text.
-
Select the items you wish to buy or sell from the dialog menu.
-
Click "Total" to finalize the transaction.
-
A message will appear in the nearby chat informing you how much to deposit or withdraw from your wallet.
-
-
Tip: Always double-check the total amount to ensure you’re updating your wallet correctly.
Jobs and Paychecks
-
Function: Collect weekly paychecks for on-sim jobs.
-
How It Works:
-
Each job has a clickable script that allows players to collect a paycheck.
-
Click the job’s payout to receive your paycheck.
-
The system tracks the last time you collected, and you’ll only be able to collect your pay once per week from that moment.
-
A message will appear in the nearby chat with the amount of your paycheck.
-
Deposit this amount into your wallet to update your balance.
-
-
Tip: Be sure to collect your paycheck weekly so you don’t miss out on your earnings.
Inventory Management
-
Function: Track your character’s personal inventory.
-
How It Works:
-
Players are responsible for maintaining their own inventory.
-
Notecards are provided as part of the player package to help you keep track of items gained, sold, or used in gameplay.
-
Some items are rare and will only be circulated under special circumstances.
-
If a player goes inactive or missing, rare items in their possession will be reintroduced into circulation for other players to earn.
-
-
Tip: Keep a detailed log of your inventory to avoid disputes or confusion.
Bounty Hunter System
-
Function: Track NPC’s through immersive dice rolls.
-
How It Works:
-
To track a bounty, visit the bounty board outside the Sheriff's office.
-
Click the "Reward" flyer to receive the bounty HUD. You will need this for tracking.
-
Use the HUD's "Search" and "Restrain" buttons to locate and capture NPC or PC bounties. Start with “Search”.
-
Team up with other players for challenging hunts, and utilizing supernaturals' unique tracking abilities for an advantage.
-
After capturing a bounty, update the relevant thread inside the #town-board channel via Discord.
-
-
Tip: Collaborate with others to improve your chances of success and share rewards.
Poker Game System
-
How It Works:
-
Locate poker tables with floating text to initiate games.
-
Touch the cards to play.
-
Winning increases your wallet balance; losing decreases it.
-
Specific locations (e.g., Werewolf Cave, The Saloon, and Town Camp).
-
-
Ask for Help: If you’re unsure how to use a feature, ask fellow players or moderators for guidance.
