• Labour strikes and unionization efforts are sweeping across the country, but company towns like Shadewood Hollow remain strongholds of resistance against organised labour.
   

• The Appalachian region is grappling with the balance between traditional rural lifestyles and the encroaching forces of modernization, as railroads and mines threaten to disrupt its isolation.
   

• Mining companies exploit land rights, displacing families and disrupting long-standing cultural traditions tied to the land. Many believe this destruction has stirred ancient forces, with whispers of spirits or protectors awakening to defend the region.
   

• Supernatural beings, governed by the ancient laws of  The Covenant, struggle to remain hidden as industrialization encroaches on their secrecy. Territorial disputes between werewolves, witches, daemons, and shifters grow as wilderness diminishes and industry expands.
