Backstory

Esme Delacroix, born in 1782 in New Orleans to a Creole mother and an enigmatic father, grew up immersed in the city’s vibrant culture of music, art, and spirituality. Her mother, a healer and storyteller, nurtured Esme’s artistic talents and connection to ancestral magic. Her father’s infrequent visits often left her and her mother alone.

After a tragic fire claimed her mother and left her emotionally scarred, Esme fled to the bayous, where her father taught her to channel her daemonic energy into her art. Through this, she mastered weaving magic into her creations—paintings and sculptures that evoked powerful emotions and mediated supernatural tensions. Returning to New Orleans, she became a revered yet mysterious figure, her art bridging divides among supernatural factions.

Esme’s influence reached the American Congregation, which invited her to join as a daemon representative. At Solomon House, her provocative ideas and creative approach often challenged traditionalists like Abigail Hawthorne, while aligning her with progressives like Ezekiel Kane. Despite her volatile nature, her art served as a unifying force, and she championed creativity as a means to adapt and reshape the supernatural world.

Deeply tied to her Creole roots, Esme often returns to New Orleans to honor her past and draw inspiration from its rhythms.
