Backstory

Cyrus Haddonfield, born in 1823 in Chicago, grew up at the crossroads of mechanics and mysticism. The son of a witch machinist and a factory-working witch mother, he combined workshop skills with an innate sense for the arcane. After his father’s tragic death in a factory fire, Cyrus dedicated himself to blending technology with supernatural energy, creating inventions that confounded human understanding.

As Chicago thrived during the Industrial Revolution, Cyrus gained renown as a daring inventor, crafting devices like the "Arcane Dynamo," which stored and channeled supernatural energy, unbeknownst to the human population. His work drew the attention of The Congregation, who invited him to join the American council to harness his innovations for the supernatural community. At Solomon House, Cyrus’s groundbreaking creations, such as magical defenses for supernatural enclaves, earned both admiration and criticism for their risks and ethical implications.

By 1890, Cyrus had become a polarizing figure—a visionary inventor whose workshop brimmed with otherworldly energy and half-finished machines. While his relentless pursuit of progress often alienated traditionalists, few could deny his contributions to bridging the mortal and supernatural worlds.
