Backstory
Cornelius Abner, born in 1838 in Charleston, Virginia, was raised in a family renowned for bridging the human and supernatural worlds with discretion and skill. By 18, Cornelius had earned a reputation as a shrewd negotiator, mediating disputes between witches and vampires. His talent caught The Congregation’s attention, and during the Civil War, he safeguarded supernatural interests in the Appalachian Highlands amidst the war torn fields.
In 1866, Cornelius was appointed Governor of the Shadewood Highlands, tasked with enforcing The Covenant in one of the most rugged and secretive regions. Operating from a fortified estate in Charleston, he maintains a delicate balance between human and supernatural needs, ensuring secrecy while granting supernaturals space to exist.
Respected but scrutinized, Cornelius despises unnecessary violence and works to minimize harm, though he isn’t above making difficult compromises to maintain order. A solitary figure, his role demands unwavering dedication as the encroaching human world and rising rebellion against The Covenant test his resolve. Cornelius knows his legacy hinges not on the peace he’s preserved, but on how he faces the storms ahead.
