Backstory

Cordelia Greaves, born under a blood moon in 1801 to a lineage of powerful Appalachian witches, displayed an innate connection to the magic of Shadewood Hollow from a young age. Tragedy struck when her coven was destroyed by hunters, forcing her to retreat into the forest, where she invoked ancient spirits for protection. This forged her into a solitary and determined leader, delving into the forbidden arts of necromancy to ensure the survival of her magic and her people.

In the aftermath, Cordelia founded The Coven of the Hollow Veil, casting powerful enchantments to shield Shadewood Hollow from outsiders. Her mastery of necromancy became a cornerstone of her power, enabling her to commune with the spirits of the dead and summon them as guardians of the land. Her leadership attracted witches seeking refuge, though her strict adherence to The Covenant and her magic's sacrificial nature earned her a reputation of both fear and reverence.

Cordelia’s strained alliance with The Congregation highlighted her role as a fierce defender of balance, often opposing industrial expansion, such as the Monaghan Mining Company, through subtle acts of sabotage. Her efforts aligned her with allies like Silas Vance, despite mutual distrust and hostile pasts.

Now appearing much younger than her late eighties, Cordelia protects the Hollow and its magic with unwavering resolve. Her necromantic practices, steeped in secrecy and ancient rites, ensures that her legacy endures, driven not by personal gain but by forces far older than any mortal comprehension.
