Backstory

Aiyana Whitecloud, born in 1811 to a Cherokee family of healers in the Appalachian Mountains, was named "Eternal Blossom" after a rare resilient flower. Raised by her shaman father and herbalist mother, she learned to balance the physical and spiritual worlds, mastering rituals, herbalism, and the whispers of the spirits in the land.

Her life changed at twenty when settlers and the Monaghan Mining Company disrupted sacred lands, angering the spirits. At sixteen, Aiyana witnessed her father’s death during a ritual interrupted by miners, cementing her resolve to protect her people and their traditions. Taking his place as spiritual leader, she earned the trust of the spirits and became a skilled healer, blending physical and mystical remedies.

By her forties, Aiyana’s reputation as a healer extended beyond her tribe, aiding settlers and miners when necessary to maintain peace. However, she fiercely opposed industrial exploitation of the land, often clashing with Josiah Monaghan. In 1890, she allies with Maggie Finch, sharing knowledge to heal and combat the growing threat posed by the mining company and restless spirits.

Aiyana remains a steadfast protector, striving to restore balance between the natural and supernatural worlds. Haunted by her father’s death but resilient in the face of adversity, she embodies the eternal blossom, determined to preserve her people’s heritage against the forces threatening to erase it.
